Chiefs Acknowledge Alleged Abuse Allegations Connected to Wide Receiver the Athlete

The Kansas City Chiefs released a comment on Wednesday evening stating they have knowledge of domestic violence allegations circulated in online accounts by a former girlfriend of player Rashee Rice and were in communication with the NFL.

The team did not mention the player specifically in their announcement and noted they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Allegations Shared on Social Media

The woman, who also did not mention Rice directly, posted a series of photos on Instagram that appeared to show signs of physical abuse. Jones stated the person involved was the father of her children, and reports indicate she has kids with the football player, whom the Chiefs drafted in the second round.

Official Complaints Currently Not on File

No police reports were available in Overland Park, Kansas where the incident is said to have occurred.

Player's Recent Off-Field Troubles

Rice missed the initial part of this season following an league-mandated ban for his role in instigating a multi-vehicle accident on a Dallas highway that resulted in several individuals injured. Rice was given a month of incarceration and five years’ probation after pleading guilty to serious offenses.

On the field, Rice concluded the season with 53 catches for 571 yards and five TDs as the Kansas City finished with a losing record and missed the playoffs for the first time in a decade.
